??? 蠕蟲(helminth)為多細胞無脊椎動物，藉身體的肌肉收縮而作蠕形運動，故通稱為蠕蟲。在動物分類學史上，蠕蟲曾被認為是獨立的，具有特殊性的一類動物。但在分類學研究不斷發展之后，人們發現蠕蟲，實際上與人體有關系的包括扁形動物門(Phylum Platyhelminthes)、線形動物門(Phylum?Nemathelminthes)和棘頭動物門(Phylum Acanthocephala)所屬的各種動物。因此在分類學上，蠕蟲這個名稱已無意義；但習慣上仍沿用此詞。由蠕蟲引起的疾病稱為蠕蟲病，具有重要意義的蠕蟲種類幾乎全部屬于前兩門。
