This British Standard cover the coating of substantially pure tin and specifies tin and silver plating thicknesses, sampling and other inspection procedures, and methods of thickness determination for components having threads of basic major diameters from 0-060 in to 3/4 in inclusive, as specified in the following standards: B.S. 84*. Parallel screw threads of Whitworth form. B.S. 93*. British Association (B.A.) screw threads with tolerances for sizes 0 B.A. to 16 B.A. B.S. 811. Cycle threads. B.S. 1580. Unified screw threads. B.S. 2779. Fastening threads of BSP sizes. B.S. 3643. ISO metric screw threads. Self-tapping screws and wood screws which form or cut their own thread are excluded from the provisions of this specification. The standard refers in particular to general purpose bolts,screws and nuts referred to in the following standards: B.S. 57*, B.S. 450*, B.S. 1083*,B.S. 1768,B.S. 1981,B.S. 3155,B.S. 3692. It does not apply to components for aircraft.
