- This section of IEC 605-3 contains preferred test conditions as referred to in 8.4 of IEC 605-1. Test cycles with a low degree of simulation should whenever possible be chosen among those given in the sections of IEC 605-3. For test cycles with a high degree of simulation and for applications not covered by IEC 605-3, appropriate test cycles should be designed using IEC 605-2. This section is applicable to direct current (d.c.) powered mobile equipment. The equipment is operated while being transported, for example in or on a vehicle but does not form part of the vehicle, and is not designed to be installed permanently in a vehicle. The equipment experiences general open-air climates according to IEC 721-2-1. The degree of simulation of this test cycle is low.
