- 本標準規定了往復式內燃機（以下簡稱內燃機）的旋轉方向和氣缸編號的標志方法及氣缸蓋裝在發動機上或拆下時氣缸蓋上氣門標志方法。 本標準還規定了直列式內燃機右機、左機及發動機各方位的定義，以便用來描述裝在發動機上各零部（附）件的位置。 本標準適用于陸用、鐵路牽引用和船用往復式內燃機，但不適用于用作驅動農業拖拉機、道路車輛和飛機用發動機。可用于筑路機和推土機、工業用卡車動力以及目前尚無合適標準的其它用途的發動機。
