建筑保溫絕熱材料作為一種重要的節能材料，目前已廣泛該應用于建筑工業中。

建筑保溫絕熱材料通常可按材質分為有機絕熱材料、無機絕熱材料和金屬絕熱材料。也可按形態分為多孔狀絕熱材料、纖維狀絕熱材料、粉末狀絕熱和層狀絕熱材料。

 

無機保溫絕熱材料具有不燃燒、耐化學腐蝕、耐高溫、使用溫度寬等特點。例如：石棉、硅藻土、珍珠巖、玻璃纖維、泡沫玻璃混凝土、硅酸鈣等。 有機保溫絕熱材料具有極小的導熱系數、吸水率較低、不透水性佳、耐低溫、易燃等特點。例如：聚苯乙烯泡沫塑料、聚氯乙烯泡沫塑料、氨酯泡沫塑料、軟木等。多孔狀絕熱材料又叫泡沫絕熱材料，具有質量輕、絕熱性能好、彈性好、尺寸穩定、耐穩性差等特點。主要有泡沫塑料、泡沫玻璃、泡沫橡膠、硅酸鈣、輕質耐火材料等。纖維狀絕熱材料主要有石棉、巖棉、玻璃棉、硅酸鋁陶瓷纖維、晶質氧化鋁纖維等。粉末狀絕熱材料主要有硅藻土、膨脹珍珠巖及其制品。總的來說，保溫絕熱材料的共同特點是輕質、疏松，呈多孔狀或纖維狀，以其內部不流動的空氣來阻隔熱的傳導。

 

保溫絕熱材料的效能的優劣主要由材料熱傳導性能的高低（其指標為導熱系數）決定。材料的熱傳導愈難（即導熱系數愈小），其保溫隔熱性能愈好。
