建筑防水即為防止水對建筑物某些部位的滲透而從建筑材料上和構造上所采取的措施。防水材料的種類，按原材料來分，有瀝青類防水材料、橡膠塑料類防水材料、水泥類防水材料、金屬類防水材料。防水涂料有四大類：硬性灰漿、柔性灰漿、丙烯酸酯、單組分聚氨酯。按性狀，防水材料還有防水卷材、聚氨酯防水材料、聚合物水泥基防水材料之分。

國內外關于防水材料的測試標準主要有下面幾種：
